Life in the Northern Uganda

Set Them Free International is focused to change the lives of the people in the Northern Uganda, through strategic projects of development:

1) Children who are half naked, walk with bare feet and their survival means are minimal at schools.

While most children in the north are still troumatised after the 20 years of the Ugandan north rebels brutality against their parents many are suffering the consnquencies of orphanhood and are living very impoverished lives. Together we can make a change and bring a better future. Set Them Free International is seeking for support from individuals who can cloth, feed, educate (provide scholarstic materials) and help children in 5 Districts (namely: Bukedea, Soroti, Teso, Kumi) live an improved life. Most of the children are living with the elderly poor who cannot afford to care for their health, feeding and schooling. So as an orgnasation we are looking out for partners to make a difference in the lives of the needy in the north. Please write to info@setthemfreeint.org

2) Promoting agriculture through encouraging farmers on the better methods of farming and food security.

Farmers especially in the Teso region of Uganda, use the means of animals (bulls or oxen) for ploughing inorder to prepare land, plant their food crops, such as beans, maize, millet, cassava, groundnuts, sweet potatoes and bananas among others. These are teh basic staple foodstuffs for the people living in the North of Uganda. Set Them Free International sought for a low cost project to senstise farmers on how to use better methods of farming such as intercropping (e.g. maize and gnuts or beans), other methods include irrigating land in case of too much sunshine, and crop rotation of crops grown on a particular piece of land. However most local farmers in many villages are faced with the issue of food insecurity i.e. they still lack the provision for seeds, garden hoes and other agricultural inputs. The project therefore seeks for support from partners to acquire seeds and agricultural tools to enable local farmers with land to grow and have food in plenty. Below is a way of how food is preserved: first a woman is drying up beans, secondly a woman is removing out beans, thirdly cassava is being dried under sunshine and fourthly a dry food storage unit.
