Community Environment
Under Water and Sanitation we work with volunteers to promote Safe Water Access, Good Hygienic and Sanitation Practices and volunteers are expected to do the following: (i) Work with the local masons and builders, and help during construction of rain water harvester, boreholes, protective walls around shallow spring wells and pit-latrines. (ii) Help the community through sensitisation on basic proper hygiene, good sanitation practices and the maintenance of water sources. The volunteers’ role in this case will be to educate the locally mobilised community gatherings and in home based visits. (iii) Create awareness among the local people on the proper waste disposal to fight related diseases.
Under this category we work with volunteers to participate in tree planting with local groups of people, protection of water sources, clearing bushes around people’s homes, etc. NB: When Volunteers are coming to do any service work with us he/she should carry light clothes for the heat time and rain coats in case of rains, other things to consider are construction gumboots, jeans, sun hats and sun glasses. Health: the volunteers need to have proper medical check-up from their local doctors and carry with them malaria preventive drugs, vitamins, etc. Click Here to read our Creterias |
