1. Advancement of Education

Set Them Free International implements the following activities with a strategy to increase the enrollment of children in universal educational schools; make their stay more comfortable at school and to ensure improved quality education services accessed by learners.

2. Sustainable Development

Under this programme, we focus mainly on the relief of poverty and the improvement of the livelihoods of people in socially and economically disadvantaged communities; Sustainable development means ‘development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

  • Set Them Free International provides capacity building and training to local groups in communities to promote the concept of self-help among target communities in order to contribute towards their own development and social well-being.
  • Mobilizing and supporting small groups with income generating activities (IGAs) through microfinance and small village Savings and Credit Corporations (SAACCOs). We aim to offer small and affordable loans to people called "a weapon against poverty and hunger".

3. Preservation of Health

HIV/AIDS and Malaria are the most infections killing people in Africa. In Uganda Malaria kills mostly the pregnant mothers and children below the age of 5 i.e. the mortality rates are high amongst children and pregnant mothers. So our major focus in the preservation of health is:

  • The fight against HIV/AIDS i.e. through sensitization campaigns as well as referral prevention, care and support services provided by local partners. This targets mainly youths, women, among other target groups.
  • The prevention of malaria i.e. through sensitization campaigns in local communities, provision for insecticidal mosquito treated nets to pregnant mothers and children under five, ensure access to health care, etc.

4. Water and Sanitation

Access to Safe and Clean Water is essential for life and economic development yet our people lack access to clean water. Set them Free International is therefore working to fulfill the water needs among local people in all its areas of operation.

  • The organization seeks to empower local communities with proper hygienic and good sanitation practices.
  • The organization empowers local communities with protection of water sources such as clearing bushes around water sources, construction of protective walls around spring wells, and setting up boreholes to enable access to safe and clean water by the local people in those communities.

5. Youths Empowerment

Youths play a bigger role in the society than anyone else because they are the future leaders of tomorrow. They are creative young men and women in our communities who have the skills and talents to explore yet not equipped with working tools and the knowledge to put things in order. And this can only be achieved by establishing measures to organize their skills and talents.

  • Set Them Free International mobilizes and organizes games and sports events for youths in local communities in order to bring them together, build up their social life, prevent them from idle reckless habits, etc.
  • Set Them Free International mobilizes and empowers youths in skills developments. This is done mainly through promoting vocational trainings for young people locally in the areas of operation.

6. Environmental Conservation

Under this project, Set Them Free International ensures community sensitization and promotes the green culture of environmental concern, afforestation and re-afforestation. This is done by:

  • Organising community workshops and encourage people to grow trees and preserve forests as well as ensure proper agricultural practices to protect the environment.
  • Mobilizing youths in the areas of operation involving them in various community activities like roads clearing, clearing bush.

7. Disaster Preparedness

Life can change for many families at any instant in form of natural and artificial disasters that can take loved ones and that can drive families from their homes.The most recent disasters all over the world have been floods, landslides, food shortage, earth quakes, among others. Whereas some of these disasters can be prevented, Set Them Free International aims to do the following:

  • Set Them Free International aims to educate and to compel people in rural areas to involve in commercial agricultural production in order to avert the current food shortage and improve the livelihoods of the people living below poverty line through provision of the following farm implements/inputs.
  • In preparation for the unexpected disasters, calamities, emergencies and other crisis; which are in no doubt on the increase in number and magnitude, and are affecting vulnerable and unprotected people; we aim to create National Humanitarian Support and Disaster Preparedness Teams (NHSDPT) in every country of operation by carrying out disasater preparedness trainings.
